What is an Engineered French Oak Floor

What is an Engineered Floor ?

An engineered wood product is a cost effective way to overcome problems likely to arise from using plain solid timber. In other words, engineered floor boards can be wider, longer and thiner than solid boards without the risks of cracking, cupping, shrinking or expending. And all this of course at a more affordable price!
Engineered floors can also be installed where solid timber products can simply not be considered, e.g. on a heated slab, or only thin space is available.
Equally, we can custom manufacture engineered STAIRS to match your French oak floor, or to match your budget !
At The Good House we always use a French oak top layer which is at least 4mm thick. This means it gives the client access to finishes and colours that would simply be not possible on thinner top layers, or would fade very quickly. A thick top layer will also last for a life time. And in most cases our method of installation will warrant you don't get that hollow sound so common when walking on cheaply installed engineered floors.
